To kick off work on the LNOI photonic building blocks which ELENA aims to create, ELENA partner VPIphotonics organised a series of comprehensive training courses on its simulation and modelling tools that support the entire photonic design workflow from devices to systems.
Almost twenty researchers from the ELENA consortium attended these hands-on courses. Design topics included applications for waveguides and fibres, photonic integrated circuits and fibre-based components, and finally high-speed optical transmission systems.
